Equatorial and tropical rainforest are always green because the climate is warm during the whole year.
Logging and mining are related to
deforestation of the tropical and equatorial rainforest.
The rivers in the savannah have a
regular flow during the whole year.
Savannah areas have two seasons: cold
season and warm season.
Precipitations iin deserts is very
infrequent and irregular. It doesn´t exceed 450 mm per year and
usually falls as heavy downpours.
Warm and temperate deserts can be found
between approximately 5º and 40º north and south of the equator.
The continental and coastal
Mediterranean environment have a similar climate, but the temperature
oscillation in the coastal areas is higher because winters are
colder.
Mediterranean areas have really hot
summers with low precipitations, somo rivers can even dry up.
The most characteristic
vegetation of the Mediterranean environment is the deciduous forest
(holm oaks, cork oaks and pines) and scrubland (thyme, rosemary,
rockrose, etc,)
In the oceanic environment, winters
are usually hotter and summers are usually colder than in the
continental Mediterranean enviroment due to the influence of the sea.
In oceanic environment, precipitation is regular and abundant.
It rains every month and the annual average rainfall is usually over
800.
