ACTIVIDADES and ACTIVITIES: WOOL TRADE AND TEXTILE INDUSTRY.

1.5. Economy in Castilla during the Catholic Monarchs Reign.

- Prosperous trashumant livestock farming.

- Important production of high quality wool.

- The control of the prosperous flocks of sheeps were mainly in the hands of the Honourable Council of the Mesta. 

- The exportation of wool was control  by the Burgos Consulate. 

- Bilbao and Santander were the main ports that exported wool to cities of Flanders and England.

- The Castilian textile industry developed just enough to cover a part of the domestic demand. (Palencia, Segovia and Avila were cities with some remarckable textile industry)

- Importante producción de lana de alta calidad.

- El control de las prósperas bandadas de ovejas estuvo principalmente en manos del Honorable Consejo de la Mesta.

- La exportación de lana fue controlada por el Consulado de Burgos.

- Bilbao y Santander fueron los principales puertos que exportaron lana a las ciudades de Flandes e Inglaterra.

- La industria textil castellana se desarrolló lo suficiente como para cubrir una parte de la demanda interna. (Palencia, Segovia y Ávila fueron ciudades con una industria textil notable)
