Evolution of the Spanish population
The first census carried out in Spain was developed in the year 1785. From this year we have reliable sources to know the approximate population of Spain.
In spite of periods in
which the Spanish population decreased due to high mortality or high emigration
(wars, epidemics, economic crises, etc.). Since the end of the eighteenth
century the Spanish population has tended to grow because the industrial revolution
helped to develop an agricultural revolution that increased the production of
food and medical advances that have prolonged our life expectancy.
